November at the Lopez Museum & Library: Nora Aunor’s Mga Uod at Rosas, filmmakers Tito and Tita Collective, and Cafe of Letters: Archives!
Screening and discussion of Mga Uod at Rosas on November 15
On November 15, Saturday from 1 – 4 PM, there will be a screening and discussion of the film Mga Uod at Rosas. This 1982 film starring Nora Aunor, Lorna Tolentino, and Johnny Delgado was written by novelist and screenwriter Edgardo M. Reyes whose other works include Maynila: Sa Mga Kuko ng Liwanag. After the screening there will be an open forum with the film’s director Romy Suzara and film critic Teddy Co.
Trenta: Screening of Short films with Tito & Tita Collective on November 27
Together with members of Tito & Tita collective, invited budding and established filmmakers will showcase their works on November 29, 1 – 5PM. Trenta brings together shorts that run for 30 minutes or less, in an afternoon screening at the museum’s temporary coffee shop, Reading Lab. The screening is free of charge.
Reading Group # 3: Discussion on archives and alternative art practices on November 29
For the third run of Café of Letters: Reading Group, Merv Espina will be discussing the use of archives in alternative art practices on November 29, Saturday, 2 – 4PM. Espina is the co-founder of the institute of Lower Learning (iLL), an experimental art and education initiative based in Saigon and Manila; program director for Green Papaya Art Projects, the oldest artist-run creative interdisciplinary platform in the Philippines; and cook-janitor of WSK, a media art kitchen and festival.
Registration fee for the November 15 and 29 events is at P130 (P115 for students and members of the museum’s membership program) and comes with a free admission to the current exhibition. Gourmet Farms Inc. will serve freshly brewed coffee on all events.
