Entitled "Frames of Reference", the exhibition is a survey of about 20 of his art-books — small books of with his early collages and drawings, among others — which prominently feature his love of handmade paper, the art of bookbinding and even nostalgia. Also included in the exhibition is "Texts", a folio of prints by eight artists— Holly Downing, Michael Gabriel, Jean Lodge, Ann Marshall, Serena Penman, Tom Piper, Janet Treby and of course, BenCab. It was printed in London in 1980.
The library exhibition also brings together his works from the Lopez Museum and Library collection including his iconic "Soldiers" (Heroes of the Past IV), 1998.
An intimate portrayal of the artist, the public will be given insight on his creative process in terms of contexts he draws from, visual inspirations and how he composes his works. Most of the materials will be exhibited for the first time.
