NEWSEUM: Making museums fun for the little ones

MOMS & DADS, LOOK! Lopez Museum and Library's Jollibee activity sheet for the Newseum project, with featured artwork by Mauro "Malang" Santos

Museum Foundation of the Philippines Inc. (MFPI) and Jollibee Philippines believe that “art is the key to every child’s holistic development.” With a common goal to make children appreciate and understand art, culture and history more, the unusual partnership between the country’s leading fast-food chain and an organization of advocates and benefactors of arts and museums was brought into fruition.

Together, they created an ambitious program dubbed as the “Newseum,” a joint project that promotes art appreciation among children through free museum visits and providing Filipino masterpiece-themed activity sheets that kids can color.

Through exposing children to art, culture and history at an early age, they will learn to be creative, to think outside the box and to appreciate diversity and have deeper appreciation of our nation’s identity.
