Remixed: NASA's Pluto Image + Charon by Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo

The internet is abuzz with NASA's New Horizons spacecraft's gorgeous image of the dwarf planet Pluto. We at the Lopez Museum & Library would not let a cool opportunity to remix science and art, and celebrate this scientific milestone pass us by (no pun intended)!

As seen in our Facebook page: Mashup images of the grim ferryman of the river Acheron, and looming overhead, the orb (and his master) Pluto, with an altered Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo's charcoal with chalk on paper study of Charon for La Barca de Aqueronte. And an allegorical quote of our favorite Filipino literary legend Francisco Balagtas, from his masterpiece Florante at Laura: "...sa pinto malapit ng Avernong Reino ni Plutong masungit."

Know more about the news from ABS-CBNNews: NASA on Tuesday night released the most detailed image yet of Pluto as its New Horizons spacecraft cruised past the dwarf planet and its moon, Charon, following a journey of more than 9 years and 3 billion miles.
